Aligning AI with Legal Frameworks - A Guide
for Today's Businesses
By Metin Kortak, Chief Information Security Officer, Rhymetec
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a key player in the business world. With the global AI market
expected to grow at a CAGR of 38.1% from now until 2030, companies across multiple industries are
working to integrate it successfully. AI can improve efficiency, decision-making, and customer service.
However, the rapid adoption of this technology brings its own challenges, especially when it comes to
compliance with legal regulations and strict data protection and privacy laws. Protecting personal
information is crucial, and businesses must align their AI usage with the existing legal frameworks.
Existing Compliance Frameworks
Regulations like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in healthcare, the
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union, and the California Consumer Privacy
Act (CCPA) in California set high standards for data handling and privacy.
HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, is a US law protecting healthcare
information. It sets rules for how this sensitive data should be handled and shared.
