Informatica A leading independent provider of data integration software, they had a strong executive presence at RSA this year and announced news of its partnership with Imperva, which resells Informatica’s industry-leading data masking technology. Together with Imperva’s SecureSphere Database Security solutions, the combined solution delivers database monitoring and masking that works across multiple applications and platforms. Amit Walia, senior vice president and general manager of Informatica’s Data Archive and Data Security Business Unit, and I discussed the four central themes that seemed to be emerging at the RSA Conference 2014, this year. Most notably, Walia observed that increasing news coverage and discussions about high-profile data breaches are prompting companies to plan for data security not only at the back end, but also at the front end. Meaning, companies need to have a multi-pronged approach to make sure development teams are thinking about data security from the very beginning, so they avoid shooting themselves in the foot at the end. To that end, Informatica just announced new test data generation capabilities that enable customers to generate test data, which mimics production data and allows for thorough testing of features and functions without the need to source test data from a production system. Secondly, a hot topic at RSA was focused around security and the Internet of Everything. With IoE, more connections mean more opportunities to lose your data, increased risk of unsecured data and even data theft. Furthermore, data security is not only owned by CISOs anymore; application owners and development teams are now also responsible for ensuring compliance to data privacy and data security policies. App owners must work more closely with the security teams and secure data at its source, or they are all setting themselves up to lose their data. Finally, Informatica saw that the tracking of data – from creation to output, including in less secure, outsourced or cloud-based testing environments – becomes critical and needs an ever-existing bread crumb trail. Following these four key concepts ensures that Informatica continues to innovate in the security space, as seen with its partnership with Imperva and its work with data-masking technology. Informatica is working with enterprises and organizations of all sizes to help solve these very complex and ever-evolving data challenges and assist in bridging communication gaps between security and data management professionals, and the RSA Conference brought them success in meeting with key partners and enabling them to share their thoughts on the future of data and security. Checkmarx Checkmarx made its traditional appearance at the 2014 RSA Cybersecurity conference. The Israeli Security company came into the event after wrapping up a successful 2013, earning recognition from Deloitte as the 2 nd fastest growing security company in EMEA (2013 Deloitte EMEA Tech Fast 500) and completing an impressive equity funding round of $8 million. Cyber Defense Magazine then announced Checkmarx as its 2014 Best Security Application award winner at the Cybersecurity event, so I was pleased to meet with this team. Checkmarx, one of the world's most innovative SAST solution providers, made its presence felt in the North Hall of the Moscone Center with live demos of its unique Source Code Analysis " # % " $ " # ! !
