“Once again under the BIG TOP of Information Security” by Gary S. Miliefsky For more than a dozen years, I’ve been attending the RSA Conference. Each year, I look for innovative companies, new technologies and I find them on the booths that might be on the far side of the giant expo hall. It was here, a few years ago, I met David Porcello and we became good friends. He was the prior CEO of PwnieExpress and is now in the role of CTO. While companies like PwnieExpress start at a small table in the back and a few years late are closer to the front, their innovation remains. During a difficult global economic crisis, one can only be pleased to see a fervent, growing, dynamic industry of information security as one that continues to be on the boom. From the small Pwnie Expresses to the Symantec and McAfee’s of the world, we had quite a turnout at RSA Conference 2014. This year was a record, with approximately 30,000 attendees, two expo halls filled to the brim with large players, medium sized and the little guys, it was quite a spectacle and sincerely overwhelming. I would hope they make the event last a few days longer so you can make it through each expo hall and not miss a single company. Here’s a short report of the most interesting companies that caught my eye as I sailed through the conference: SolarSecure Digital security practitioners need to take a proactive approach to address the evolving cyber threats, in addition to their defense networks. Traditionally, network security consists of firewalls, access list, intrusion detection and host antivirus to slow down the attacks or make them more visible before they breach the servers. At the RSA conference, Solarflare was demonstrating SolarSecure, the industry’s first distributed, active security solution that empowers each server " # % " $ " # ! !
