In a practice, the source is a person capable to offer some finding about anything of interest to
the Defense Forces.

Some sources may deal with the information on the everyday situation within a society, findings
about the criminal activities or expert’s knowledge with some field of interest.

The source’s service is not only attractive to the Police, but rather to the Military Forces as well
as intelligence community.

The current requirement would sometimes seek from the source to prepare the skillful reports
and provide some evidence to the task.

If we talk about the source’s selection – it’s important to mention that the informant would get
the attention of the authorities only if he is capable to provide something helpful to the case or
preventive operation.

At the beginning of the collaboration between the source and the security community, the Police
should try to gain the rapport from their informant following the adequate procedures.

Once the rapport is obtained and the source got accepted to serve to the certain task, the
cooperation would start and normally the time and experience would suggest the availability and
accuracy of such a fellow.

It would be recommended to the Police staff to get close to their community trying to develop
the network of useful sources being interviewed for the both – preventive and investigative
purposes.

The well-developed network of the sources may rise awareness amongst the community
members on the importance of good policing capable to prevent, investigate and resolve the
concerns within the entire country, region or globally.
