PNNL, like most enterprises, needs to do this in a way that uses resources most efficiently.
Recently, PNNL collaborated with Champion Technology Company to develop a software
solution called DarkLight.

Now in use at PNNL as a pilot deployment, DarkLight helps reduce false-positives as well as the
demands on resources inherent in providing cybersecurity against modern threats.

Artificial intelligence combined with reasoning engines can help cybersecurity teams make
better decisions and take appropriate courses of action.

In practice, this type of solution stems the flow of false positives, helping the analyst move their
focus to more proactive – and interesting tasks like threat hunting.

DarkLight mimicks the way the human brain processes information by classifying data and
applying deductive reasoning encoded from the analyst’s logic and experience. As a result, it
produces evidence-based results and predictive and repeatable outcomes.

False positives are quashed by the program just like a seasoned human analyst would, only
without restrictions like hunger and fatigue to slow it down. An organization can benefit from the
human-quality results, but at the scale and volume appropriate for its operations.

With artificial intelligence at the helm, solving for regulatory challenges becomes possible while
also defending against constant attacks.
The finance sector may be no stranger to adversity, and while the world is not getting any safer,
a cyber analytic platform like DarkLight could at least make the overloaded SOCs a thing of the
past.
