            Cybercriminal motivations rarely change over time. A typical cyberattack is carried out for one of the
            following reasons -

            1.  Illicit  financial  gain  via  disruptive  attacks  such  as  ransomware,  denial-of-service  (DoS)  or
            cryptocurrency theft

            2. Intellectual property theft or corporate espionage for strategic competitive advantage

            3. Sensitive data exfiltration for geo-political supremacy

            4.  Influencing  public  opinion  by  propagating  a  false/biased  narrative  through  misinformation  or
            disinformation campaigns for achieving socio-political objectives
