Critical Communications World 2019 continues tradition of success

28 June 2019: The worldwide mission critical communications community came together in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, last week, for Critical Communications World (CCW) 2019.

Organised by The Critical Communications Association (TCCA), CCW is the global showcase event for the sector, attracting thousands of attendees on an annual basis. Following on from 2018’s hugely successful show in Berlin, numbers this year continued to be overwhelmingly positive, registering one of the event’s highest turn-outs when taking place in the Far East.

Visitors to CCW 2019 were able to take advantage of a variety of opportunities available nowhere else within the sector, not least a three-day schedule of expert-led masterclasses and high-level conference sessions including presentations from a variety of industry thought leaders.

Updates were given from the three most far-advanced national public safety broadband projects, FirstNet (USA), SafeNet (South Korea) and the Emergency Services Network (UK). Other stand-out conference sessions included Motorola Solutions’ Senior Vice President of Technology Paul Steinberg discussing Artificial Intelligence.

Hosted by Malaysia’s national critical communications operator Sapura, the show was officially opened by Deputy Secretary General at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Mr Tan Chuan Ou.

CCW 2019 also offered a variety of opportunities for networking, both on and off-site. The show was a magnet for exhibitors, with more than 70 manufacturers showcasing their latest products. These included Motorola Solutions, Leonardo, Hytera and Huawei, all of whom were the Platinum Sponsors of the event.

The networking also continued during the International Critical Communications Awards (ICCAs), which took place on the evening of the first night. As well as giving visitors the chance to catch-up in an informal setting, the awards – which were hosted by television personality and technology expert David McClelland – also celebrated the very best work going on within the sector over the past 12 months. The full list of winners can be found here.

The last formal networking occasion took place during the VIP night at renowned ‘rustic-luxe’ restaurant Tamarind Springs, located on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.

Speaking of the success of CCW 2019, TCCA Chief Executive Tony Gray said: “Critical Communications World is the largest and most influential event of its kind in the sector, a reputation which has been built over the course of its 20-year-plus history. This year has once again seen CCW bring together the global critical communications community to share best practice and new ideas for the benefit of all.

“On behalf of TCCA, I wish to offer profound thanks to the Malaysian government and the country’s critical communications industry, both for their presence and the incredibly warm welcome they have afforded to everyone connected with our organisation. My thanks also to all visitors, exhibitors, speakers and all supporters of CCW for working together to make the event such a success.”

Critical Communications World 2019 took place between 18-20 June at the MiTEC in Kuala Lumpur. As announced prior to the show, the venue for CCW 2020 will be the IFEMA in Madrid, Spain, from 17-19 June of that year.
